Marianne, thank you for the kind words. Yes, we need to encourage the children while they have tender hearts to stay tender in spite of the 'stuff' to come.
Good to see you on this site. Grace

Hi Grace,

Thanks for sharing such a beautiful and touching scene. May this inspire everyone who takes the time to read and absorb this story of beauty, grace, and generosity. It is often children who demonstrate the true spirit of this Christmas season.

Thanks NikkiGee and Sumeet---there are many signs of our collective 'sickness' and all I can do, we can do is demonstrate another way of dealing with that which makes us 'sick' (anger, fear, etc.).

The poem speaks to me in a such a beautiful way.
I too have been planted
In soil soft enough
To embrace me in its fold
Thick enough to hold me
As I grow into the light
Out of this
Dark Earth.

I love this stanza. Very nice work

Hi Grace,

An inspiring and heart-warming article! The following line stands out for me: "the people that chase, harass, scream at peaceful little birds are screaming a message to the world about a lot more than pidgins". Yes, indeed. On the same hand, what I liked about your article is the balance between what you saw, which was annoying and full of anger, and how you interpreted it.

I like a lot of peaceful interpretation in this article along with the understanding of anger and hatred. And it is this peaceful reflection as well as interpretation that stands out the most for me.

They will sing, drum, chant poetry, dance and walk on behalf of their Occupy youth who are in peaceful protest addressing the insanity and violence in our country. If you are local join them.
A stirring poem, Hemani! Good luck with your work at Anandi. I hope your poem raises awareness of mental health illnesses and the fact that it could happen to anyone. I also hope that it helps remove the unnecessary stigma associated with it in many sections of Indian society.

Best wishes with the humanistic and empowering work you and your team are carrying out!

Excellent piece of news, short and sweet. There is much more to say about exchanges based on mutual respect, music, the arts and poetry between people in China and in the US. As the world economy and political systems crumble down around us, it is high time we invest in trust, friendship and the arts. This short video is one step in that direction. Please post many more of these!
